Annual Golf Tournament

The ASA of MS Annual Golf Tournament was held on Tuesday the 6th  day of May 2008 and was a huge success. The Whisper Lakes Golf Course in Madison was absolutely perfect! this tourney is famed the "Rusty Clubs" tourney and the proceeds benefit our MC Vaughn Scholarship.  To register watch for our dates to be posted here, then simply print out the Golf Tournament Registration Form and mail it in to ASA of MS.

ASA of MS Board Retreat
Another benefit is serving on the ASA Board and each year ASA of MS sponsors a retreat. This past year, August 20th, 2007 the Board enjoyed a great  weekend in New Orleans as members and their significant others travel to the Sonasta and enjoyed the lap of luxury on the Mighty Missip with a  return to the "Big Easy".

But wait! The Get-A-Way is on us again!!! This year we are heading to the Bay and the Grand Hotel- Fairhope Alabama for a 2 nighter; the dates are the 8-10 of August. So look for details soon!

ASA Advocacy 2008

The Session of 2008 is the year that most will always remember for the Mississippi Immigration Employment Act of 2008.

Your ASA, was in the 'thick of it' however the zealousness of the day carried and on July 1, 2008 Mississippi will join several other states in vastly curtailing the opportunity for migrant workers.

The new law is livable and will not change the way good and honest folks do business however it casts' a pall that will foreshadow most business as they muddle through a lethargic E-verify system to insure complaince and considerate of the huge risk many take as sureties across the state on the bidding of these Multimillion dollar Public Works Projects "if" they decide against supporting the questionable fairness of the end result many of our members could suffer!

Hopefully the market will bear the ebb and flow of this fickle economy and our new found salvatory immigrant's law won't have the desire negative effect most pundits believe it may. None the less we - Your ASA - will be there in January for any needed corrections, evident from the potential fallout.
